Inspired by the small and beautiful coastal town of Tropea in Calabria, Tropea is a neighbourhood restaurant shaped by passion, perseverance and a strong sense of community. Founded by Ben and Kasia, who met while training as chefs at University College Birmingham in 2010, the restaurant reflects years of global travel and experience gained in inspiring kitchens. After returning to Birmingham in 2016, the pair used the pause of the 2020 lockdown to realise a long-held dream of opening their own restaurant. Tropea began life in 2021, taking over the former Boo Boo Coffee site, and has since grown through the unwavering support of loyal guests. At its heart, Tropea remains a true neighbourhood restaurant, deeply connected to its community.
